Residency 2 Banquet Celebrates Teacher Candidates
The Clinical Teaching Office of Austin Peay State University’s College of Education recently held a banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of the Residency Two students. The banquet was held November 30, 2011 at the University Ballroom. Over two hundred fifty guests including Residency 2 students, their mentor teachers, principals, directors of schools, and faculty and administrators from Austin Peay were in attendance. It was a time to celebrate the many accomplishments of those who were completing student teaching, as well as thank those in the school systems who had mentored and supervised the teacher candidates. Special awards were given in recognition of those students with the highest PRAXIS scores and highest GPAs. Mr. Mike Harris, Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools Director of Schools, was the keynote speaker and challenged the teacher candidates to aim for excellence, and to find ways to motivate and inspire their students.
